It can be a release when you’re angry, a way to celebrate when you’re happy, or your immediate crutch on a bad day. Music is a cure-all. And all music can speak to you. That’s the best part about it, there’s something for everyone. Music is kind of like food. It’s comforting. It’s purposeful. It can be your go-to for any situation. And just like music, there’s a little food for everyone, too.
The combination of live music and food is nothing revolutionary. Lots of places showcase amazing local talent amidst a sea of drinks and shareables. However, when done right, the combination of a delicious meal and incredible music set against a top-notch backdrop all fuse together to form one truly electric recipe for success. Think you can only find something this stellar in big cities? Think again. One of the latest additions to the up-and-coming scene in Downtown Biloxi has you covered. Ground Zero Blues Club is ticking all the melodic boxes and for all the right reasons.
While you may already be familiar with the concerts and shows taking place at Ground Zero, did you know that they have an incredibly epic kitchen showcasing some of the best burgers, sandwiches, and BBQ that you can find this side of the Delta? Brunch items include standouts like chicken and waffles and GZ omelet with biscuits and gravy. The chocolate chip Belgian waffles make the perfect fluffy base for hand-battered, crispy chicken. It’s the perfect mix of savory and sweet. House gravy smothers hot biscuits topped with a classic omelet for the biscuits and gravy. It’s filling and goes great with a Bloody Mary.
If you are there for the music but need a little something on the side, The Smokestack Lighting Nachos are over the top amazing. House kettle chips are nestled under a pile of house smoked pulled pork or chicken and then topped with everything from pickled onions and queso to a secret recipe Jim Bean Devil’s Cut BBQ sauce. This sauce is also featured on the chicken wings and I challenge you to find better wings anywhere.
The Catfish Plate and the Crossroads Club tied for my faves. Featuring Mississippi farm-raised fresh catfish, the Catfish Plate gives that perfect home-cooked vibe. But if you follow my reviews at all, you know I have a deep love for fried bologna. The Crossroads Clubs subs out the ham for a thick-cut slice of fried bologna and just the right amount of pimento cheese. So, so good. Still, a customer favorite is definitely the Delta Coast Blues Burger, which pairs a ground chuck brisket patty with blueberry-infused pork belly, then tops it all off with blackened shrimp slaw. It’s one of those burgers you have to try to fully get it. Round out your meal with banana pudding or Maggie’s Cheesecake and you’ve basically experienced a meal fit for a king.
Ground Zero is one of those enchanted places that transports its patrons to somewhere other worldly. All ages are welcome any time, making this a great place to take the family for a fun meal. Ground Zero welcomes the opportunity to host private events, both big and small. I’m in absolute love with everything about Ground Zero and after one trip, you will be, too.
