Silver Gold and Blue
Christmas is announced at the entrance of Steven Warren’s Gulfport home with large nutcrackers and a garland over the double doors. These decorations welcome family and guests into the Mediterranean-style home. Built in 2014, the large home had additions in 2017 and was completely remodeled after Warren, president/CEO of Warren Paving, bought it in 2022.
The traditional holiday colors of red and green are not used in the spacious living room. Opting for a more masculine look, decorators from Sadie Jane’s Famous Wreaths used silver, gold, and blue. A thick garland in these colors is used on the mantle. The silver-and-blue tree features golden deer antlers as a topper.
This room, along with the whole backside of the home, overlooks Bernard Bayou and bridge. Inside, the calming colors of white and gray are used. An unusual chandelier draws the eye up to the soaring cathedral ceiling of knotty pine and high clerestory windows. Abstract art in soft colors accents the walls.
“I was looking for something on the water and this house is perfect,” Warren says. “I stay outside as much as I can, starting the day with coffee out there and finishing with a drink.”
Antique doors, arched openings and large mirrors give the home character. A butler’s pantry with a well-stocked bar leads to the kitchen. An unusual arrangement of holiday greenery with a nutcracker, drums and a moss wreath sit on the island. A grand, curved white sofa dominates one end of the room where it’s just right for television viewing and entertaining by Warren and his girl friend, Gloria Doty. “I do some entertaining with friends and family, mostly family,” he says.
He is proud of his three grown daughters: Madison Harrell of Gulfport, Hannah Warren of Jackson and Haley Warren of Oxford. Their photos are prominently displayed.
The wood paneled office sports some Mississippi State University items to show that Warren is a big supporter. There’s also evidence of his hobbies of golf and boating.
