Kitchen Sisters

2024 is upon us and, y’all, I vow to eat healthier and do better this year. Or at least that’s what I vow almost every year.

If you have never made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight or make healthier food choices – even once – then we are not the same. However, if you are the kind of person who enjoys a good food article and are reading now, then you are most likely my people and understand the struggle. And Lord, it is real. The best of intentions can be easily upended at the first sight of a chocolate chip cookie. But luckily, I’ve found a place that I think is genuinely going to help me stay on track in the new year: Kitchen Sisters Meal Prep in Pascagoula.

Let me start by saying that I just love this place. Everything about it. It’s a one-stop meal prep shop at its core, but it’s so much more than that. With not quite a year under its belt, Kitchen Sisters has ballooned into a local favorite with delicious offerings tailored to the individual, families, and even catering events.

The grab-n-go style is exactly what you need when you want a quick bite for lunch or you’re looking for a take-n-bake casserole. And the best part about it all is that the menu combines everything delicious with everything healthy and fresh. Owners (and sisters) Blair Purdy and Hayley Espey are the architects of a variety of incredible recipes ranging from sweet to savory. Purdy began meal-prepping for friends and family and over time as the demand grew, she knew she was on to something.

At first bite of anything at Kitchen Sisters, you’ll immediately know your food was thoughtfully prepared with the perfect balance of healthy and indulgent ingredients. I love the Italian Herb Marinated Cheese with Pita. It’s a great snack and full of a zesty, tangy flavor. A grab-n-go staple is the Green Goddess Pasta, and I can totally see why. Purdy’s green goddess sauce is so delicious and is loaded with healthy greens. It’s a great easy lunch choice. The Chicken Bahn Mi Wrap is out of this world good featuring grilled chicken thighs rolled up with pickled carrots, fresh jalapeños, cucumbers, and cilantro. The house Cream Sweet Soy Sauce is the perfect dipping companion. The House Salad is such a yummy and healthy choice. It’s a rainbow of colors with its combination of grilled chicken, fresh cut veggies and a Garlic Herb Ranch that is hard to beat.

One of my hands-down favorite items was the Tomato Basil Bisque served with house Pimento Toast. It’s by far the best tomato basil bisque I’ve ever had and the pimento toast gives the perfect “grilled cheese” vibes that make tomato soup so inviting. I tried to pick a winner between the Garlic Tahini Chicken and the Chopped Pork Loin Bowl, but gave up. They are both equally amazing. The Garlic Tahini Chicken is Purdy’s take on the popular shawarma, but with a focus on making it the healthiest version possible. The Chopped Pork Loin is fire-grilled in-house and is about as tender as anything.

What I love about these meals is their availability in individual portions or family sized meals. The best part is that the sides are customizable, so you can choose between fluffy jasmine rice, blistered vegetables, potato wedges, and more. As with any goal of healthy eating, balance is key. So, make sure you grab a Triple Berry Parfait, Banana Pudding, or their signature Chocolate Puddle Cookie to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Purdy and Espey’s love of food is apparent from the minute you walk into Kitchen Sisters. Their shop is open and full of light and any time you go, you’ll find Purdy, Espey and their amazing team whipping up the latest culinary creations. Recipe development is key, and Purdy ensures that everything prepared at Kitchen Sisters is a reflection of her desire to produce well-thought out and perfectly balanced meals.

Any meal at Kitchen Sisters will be a great start to your day, your week, and definitely to your New Year!
