From a Dream to a Reality

Pascagoula’s Madi Cooper Has Songs Featured on Love is Blind

The romance might be for show, but the music… well that’s authentic.

Just ask Madi Cooper, a Pascagoula native with two songs featured on the Netflix reality television series Love Is Blind. Her songs “Trapped” and “Tell’Em” premiered on episodes that aired in the U.S. and Brazil.

“It was super surreal to be on Netflix,” Cooper said. “When we heard it for the first time, we were all jumping up and down the whole time it played.”

Cooper’s producer and friend, Kara Greskovic, was first contacted by the music company BMG which led to Big Story Music and eventually Love is Blind. The reality show has six seasons under its belt and has been adapted into eight international versions. The franchise is known to be quite kind to its musicians. Songs can play for as long as two minutes, which is incredibly uncommon on other shows that favor snippets or short transitions.

And Cooper’s television placement success doesn’t stop at reality TV. Her song “How to Fall” was featured on a couple of episodes of Emmerdale, a British soap opera that’s been aired since 1972.

“It’s really popular,” Cooper said. “It’s like the U.K.’s version of General Hospital.”

Her most recent release, “Deja Vu,” hit the digital airwaves last month. Currently racking up streaming and digital successes are “Pain” with hundreds of thousands of streams and “Peace,” which is quickly closing in with growing streaming numbers.

“I’m super excited about the release of ‘Deja Vu,’” she said. “‘Pain’ popped off at 200k. That number is super crazy. I’m just excited to see what else happens at this point.”

Her discography also includes singles and EPs “Honey,” “React,” “Goodbye,” “Flower Tattoo,” and “City Air.”

Cooper has had a microphone in her hand since her highchair days. As a teenager, she played countless local events and annual festivals, constantly wowing crowds, and Gulf Coast music enthusiasts were instantaneously captivated by her powerhouse voice with an expressive wispy range that effortlessly denotes emotion.

And now, the Resurrection Catholic High School graduate has flown her songbird nest and is living in California. After high school, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend Belmont University where she sought a bachelor’s degree in music business administration.

She graduated college in 2019 and stayed in the Music City. She recently landed a job with Treyarch, a video game developer based in Santa Monica, California. She moved to Los Angeles this summer and is now an external development supervisor with the Call of Duty franchise. “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” is slated for release on October 25.

“I’m excited to get more embedded in the music scene here,” she said. “Because of my digital success, people expect me to play clubs all the time, but of course, I’m really busy with career stuff too. I’ve met a couple of artists here who haven’t had that much digital success, but they have physical club success. I’m excited to start collaborating with them and helping each other out. I’m ready to start playing live more.”

Once an upcoming Flagship City troubadour singing her heart out while strumming guitar at local venues such as Pascagoula’s annual Zonta Festival, Cooper is now a nationally and globally celebrated singer, songwriter, and musician, so if she’s not already on your Spotify playlist – without a doubt, you’re missing out.
