Coasting through the Outdoors

Your ultimate guide to non-stop adventures from Moss Point to Bay St. Louis

There are so many great things about living on the Coast. One of my favorites is that no matter where you live, you don’t have to travel far to find something fun to do outside. From Moss Point to Bay St. Louis, there is plenty to keep you busy without spending much time in the car.

Moss Point
In Moss Point you can explore the boardwalks, trails and rent kayaks to experience the wildlife and beauty at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center. The Escatawpa River provides an endless amount of options for paddling. There’s also McCoy’s River and Marsh Tours where you’ll have a guided tour through the marshlands.

Pascagoula
Pascagoula has Beach Park where you can spend the day relaxing, picnicking, walking the trails or having fun with your kids on the playgrounds. The historic Round Island Lighthouse and surrounding park offer scenic views of the Pascagoula River.

Gautier
Shepard State Park in Gautier has so much to offer! You can camp, hike, play disc golf, practice on the archery course, ride their mountain bike trails or just chill. The Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge offers guided tours or you can hike the trails to check out the endangered birds and other wildlife. And Gautier City Park has playgrounds, walking trails and sports facilities right in town.

Ocean Springs
Ocean Springs has Front Beach where you can relax on the sandy shores; swim in the warm water; walk, run or ride your bike. You can explore the Davis Bayou Area at the Gulf Islands National Seashore, walk the nature trails, enjoy a picnic, kayak or catch your dinner fishing! And Shearwater Pottery is where you can visit the historic studio and get some culture before you hike the nearby Tidelands Trail.

The Biloxi Bay Bridge is, well, it’s a bridge from Ocean Springs to Biloxi so I guess it counts as a little of both towns. No matter, it’s a great place to walk, run or ride your bike and get some truly amazing views of the entire area.

Biloxi
In Biloxi proper, the old standby is Biloxi Beach. It’s the old standby because it’s so awesome! You can do all the typical beach things there, swimming, jet skiing, those paddle tricycle things, kite flying and good ol’ chillin’. Ship Island Excursions will also take you out for a day of beach activities as well as exploring Fort Massachusetts and, if you’re lucky, some dolphin watching!

Gulfport
Who doesn’t love waterslides? In Gulfport, Gulf Islands Waterpark is a great way to spend the day zooming down their rides, slides and playing in the pools. A visit to Jones Park offers walking trails, a marina, playgrounds and more beaches!

Pass Christian
Pass Christian has a wonderful historic district perfect for walking or a leisurely ride admiring the beautiful homes and views of the Gulf. You can enjoy playgrounds, tennis courts, walking trails and memorials dedicated to local veterans at War Memorial Park. And Pass Christian Beach is yet another in a long line of great beaches the Coast has on offer.

Bay St. Louis
And finally, Bay St. Louis. The Bay St. Louis Historic L & N Train Depot houses the Mardi Gras Museum and is surrounded by walking trails and picnic areas. It’s also the home of the Alice Moselely Folk Art and Antique Museum where you can tour their outdoor exhibits. And what list would be complete without mentioning Bay St. Louis Beach? A great place to hang out, enjoying beach activities as well as all of the bars, shops and restaurants in the area.

You’re never far from adventure on the Coast. Whether you’re kayaking the Escatawpa River or soaking up the sun on Pass Christian Beach, there’s always something exciting, or relaxing, depending on your mood, to do. I invite you to embrace the coastal lifestyle and enjoy the countless outdoor adventures that make living here truly special.
