Destination Point: Capt. Al’s Steak & Seafood

What do you do when you have something time-tested, beloved by locals and basically perfect? Some might say you sit back, relax, and relish in your accomplishments. But those people aren’t Stacey Magnusen, owner of Captain Al’s Steak and Seafood in Gulfport.

Magnusen has been at the helm of Captain Al’s for several years and while she could have been content with its continued success, she knew she wanted to create something bigger, better, and beyond amazing. And y’all, that is exactly what she did. Captain Al’s has undergone an incredible transformation, and the entire Gulf Coast is benefiting from this monumental undertaking.

By all accounts, Captain Al’s has become a premier destination point for all things food and fun. With an ever-growing and evolving menu, the offerings at Captain Al’s are simply astounding. From lunch to dinner and now brunch on weekends, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The cocktail menu is out of this world – who doesn’t want to sip a delicious frozen drink while watching a warm coastal sunset? And with the addition of the Captain’s Wharf Marina, the sky is really the limit.

One glance at the brunch menu and you’ll know you’ve got something really special. The Delta Catfish and Grits is a hearty take on the fish and grits staple. Fried Mississippi Delta catfish are served over Mississippi stone ground grits with all the “fixins.” The Crab Cakes Benedict BLT is the perfect blend of two culinary favorites combining crispy fried crab cakes, bacon, lettuce, and tomato on top of a buttermilk biscuit, poached eggs, and house Hollandaise. But the standout items of the Captain Al’s brunch are no doubt the house Bloody Marys. They come in a “build your own” style and toppings range from your basic olives and okra to Dungeness crab, oysters, and a whole lobster. People come from all over to sample one of these epic creations.

In addition to Captain Al’s culinary feats, Magnusen has turned the entire property into a water-lover’s paradise. Captain’s Wharf Marina boasts a fully-stocked marina store, live bait, fish cleaning stations, and almost 200 wet and dry boat slips. Paddle boards, kayaks, and pontoon boats are readily available for rent or guests can come relax on the sand bar. Amenities such as bathrooms, showers, and even Wi-Fi are readily available. Want to experience the best of both worlds? Call to order your meal and it can be delivered dockside directly to your boat. Captain’s Wharf Marina truly has it all.

Magnusen’s dream has always been to find that perfect blend of fun in the sun with top-notch service and conveniences. By combining delicious food and drink with all the marine amenities we love on the Coast, Magnusen has created something uniquely special. She refuses to limit herself and continues working tirelessly to make Captain Al’s the best that it can be. She has no plans to stop expanding with on-site lodging, a Tiki bar, more live music, and water excursions on the horizon. A true hometown girl, Magnusen envisions Captain Al’s as a central hub, catering to everyone.

If you haven’t seen all of the amazing things taking place, then set your course for Gulfport: Destination Point, Captain Al’s!
