A Comfortable and Functional Forever Home

The facade of the Gulfport home of Regina and Ramy Ramazani is grand and welcoming at the same time. Precision landscaping and walkway lead to the front door. The home is elegant and luxurious taking its color scheme from a beautiful painting by local artist Sandy Kotter. However, Regina points out that they want their “retirement home” to be comfortable and functional, which it is.

The home was custom built by Coastal Homes and the couple, along with their dog Ella, moved in last August. The painting’s blues, greens, and aqua colors are apparent throughout the home. To the right of the entryway is a formal dining room with dark blue chairs. “We had to have a big table for our large family,” Regina says. “We already had the table and I told the builder the dining room had to be big enough for it.”

Across from the dining room is a sitting area where the Kotter painting is the focal point and its soft shades dominate. Original paintings by artists where the Ramazanis have lived are used in every room adding color, charm, and history.

The open floor plan of the living room and kitchen is stunning with a brick casement defining the two areas. Two brick walls give character to the adjoining breakfast room which has a needlepoint rug on the floor. The kitchen’s large center island is capped with unusual Blue Roma quartz. White cabinets with glass fronts display glassware in shades of the home’s theme. An antique plate rack adds the warmth of wood.

Off the kitchen is “a dream butler’s pantry” that has blue cabinets and nooks for many small appliances and everything a cook needs. Colorful local artwork is used here too.

Regina wanted the home’s powder room to be “swanky” and she is not disappointed. The distinctive wallpaper creates a mural around the room.

There are four bedrooms, each with its own look, color scheme and original paintings. The master is stunning in soft blue with windows overlooking the lovely pool and outdoor area. The adjoining bath features a barrel ceiling and a chandelier over the stand-alone tub.

There are some special rooms that reflect Regina’s hobbies including a quilting room with cubbies to keep fabric pieces in order and an antique armoire. She explains that she’s from a family of seamstresses. Her mother was a German immigrant. A collection of antique beer steins and a family photo album in the living room are reminders of this lovely lady.

The outdoor kitchen is Ramy’s domain and is equipped with grills, cabinets and a full-size refrigerator. The pool is perfect for the grandchildren.

Back in the house, the laundry room has a large tiled shower for bathing Ella.

The couple’s four daughters are Christina Necessary, Gabrielle Goldsmith, Whitney Pearce, and Katie Moore. The grandsons are Konner and Noah and the granddaughter is Harmony.
